That's a myth. Your baby needs more milk, not nutrient devoid cereal. Firstly, your baby's tummy is not designed for anything but breastmilk and formula for many reasons, first and foremost that it cannot digest cereal properly, but also because it has the potential to lead to digestion problems later, and increases the risk of obesity. Secondly, your baby is reliant on the nutrients in breastmilk and formula for its development - rice cereal does not contain these same nutrients. If your baby is hungry, give it more milk. Babies aren't meant to necessarily sleep through the night. A 2 month old is supposed to be waking during the night for a feed!!
AAP and WHO advice is to wait until a baby is 6 months before you feed them anything other than breastmilk or formula.

Don't do it. A 2 month old isn't supposed to sleep through the night. Babies that sleep long stretches of time from a young age... have lucky parents. A child will sleep long stretches or through the night when they are ready to do so... whether that's 2 months or 2 years.
