hello all,

looking for some help, please. My 14 months old is breastfed. She was born 10.4lb (big girl). By age of 5 months I put her into nursery and went back to work. She wasn't used to the bottles as I was a breastfeeding home stay mom, so she would drink very little milk from the bottle during her long day at nursery. I made sure she eats at least one yoghurt daily( the petit filous ones). Now, she is a bit better and drinks a bit more (that is to say around 8oz/day in addition to solids and yoghurt). She isn't walking yet, she cruises on furniture. I'm terrified there could be something wrong with her bones or with her strength because of her milk intake. Did anybody have similar situations with babies NOT drinking enough milk/day?Am I being paranoid about her bones?

Hi Dove,

thanks a lot. your words helped assure me :-)
When we are together she gets a feed before i leave to work ( not sure if she gets enough of this feed) then a feed when she arrives from nursery. then before bedtime. We co-sleep so during night time she takes few sips as well.
Any tips on food as well? driving me crazy eating a bit of this and a bit of that. I read a lot about babies in similar age eating 3 oz of this, 2 oz of custard, fruit and milk... God bless everyone! I hope my daughter would eat the same :-)

My little girl was not breast fed, but when she started eating baby food at 4mo her intake of formula decreased and by the time she was 6mo old she completely refused the bottle. She is now 17mo old and still will not drink milk at all (of any kind). She started walking at 10 1/2 months and her development is at or above expectation in everything according to her pediatrician. Some children are later developers than others with their walking and if you are concerned you should talk to your pediatrician.

Yes, you are being paranoid about her bones. If she is cruising around the furniture... her bones are fine. She's just not ready to walk on her own yet and that's perfectly normal. 'Average' age range to start walking is 9-18 months, so your daughter is still within that range.

As for the milk... if she is still breastfeeding, how many times per day/night are you nursing when together?
