Need help! My one year old has eczema all over and the doctor will not prescribe anything, due to creams contain steroids. I agree and understand, but we can not keep up on it and she is scratching. We have tried Aquaphor, Eucerin intensive Cream, Aveeno with oatmeal, Triple Cream and it is not helping. Any suggestions?

Sometimes they just need the roids for a few days to calm it down. One doc told me it can be food related or asthma related, which my son's flares up when his asthma does.

My chinese doctor told me that it's a gut imbalance so I give my son Innerhealth (pre/pro biotic) and also fish oil.

I use natural products that contain oils such as emu oil, manuka honey, etc I tried a great line of products called Graham's Natural Alternatives developed by a father with a child who had bad ezcema. Our paed also said sometimes to use kids Zyrtec to help with the itch. Good luck, poor little bubby!

I have eczema too although it isn't that extreme and I found a steroid free wonder cure. My dermotologist gave me some sample tubes and it worked FANTASTIC, and best of all you can get it over the counter at Wal Mart, if they don't have it they can order it via the pharmacy and it's less that 16.00 for a big 16 oz. bottle, it's called Vanicream. No steroids, no dyes, no lanolin, no fragrance, no glycerin, no formaldehyde, no parabens. When you apply it, it feels a little heavy but once it soaks in, you can't feel it at all!!! Try it and let me know if it works as well for you (PS you can get a smaller 4 oz. tube to try) My children don't have eczema but I know the Aquafor made my eczema burn and didn't help at all, never tried mixing it with hydrocortazone though

Both my daughters have eczema, my oldest had it really bad when she was an infant. Our pediatrician prescribes aquaphor mixed with hydrocortisone. The pharmacy has to send it out to be mixed but it works wonders for us. We also could not use the baby bath products - we use Dove soap. When my oldest was 1st born, her skin was so bad it was dry and almost crunchy - 1 bath with Dove and her skin was so much better.

Jo, I am from the united States in Nebraska. I have not heard of aqueous cream. I will look into. I will also ask the doctor about creams that do not contain steroids. I just assumed there was nothing else. Thank you!
