Baby has droped ..

Okay I'm 36 weeks pregnant with my first and my baby has already droped well okay I was wondering how soon after the baby has droped will I be going into labor cuz I have been having a lot of cramps and discharge please any advise

It could be 5 minutes, 5 days, or 5 weeks.

Everything that you are describing are signs that your body is getting ready for labor, but they do not necessarily mean that labor is imminent. It's fairly normal for the baby to "drop" around this gestational age in a first pregnancy. It's also very normal to have periods of cramping (mild contractions), as well as increased discharge. These are all signs of cervical ripening - meaning that the cervix is starting to get softer and thinner, and more stretchy. You may even be starting to dilate a little bit.

These are all great signs that your body is preparing for labor, but it does not mean that delivery is right around the corner. As I said, you could deliver today, or it could be a few more weeks before active labor really kicks in.

My first dropped at 36 weeks. My waters broke and I went into labour the night before his due date. These signs could mean anything - you could be 4 or 5 weeks yet, or it could happen tomorrow.
