Do not use Advil if the child is NOT drinking enough. They must be well hydrated in order for the Advil to properly process through the kidneys. If you give Advil and they are dehydrated you can cause kidney failure.

However, if they are drinking lots, than it is recommended to switch every 4 hours between Tylenol and Advil. Make sure you TIME it and do NOT go under every 3hrs because Advil cannot be given any earlier than every 6hrs.

My son just had a fever of 104 and the ER doctor said high fever will not cause harm, regardless of how high it is. That in Europe they don't do anything for a fever. Although, to make them feel more comfortable, giving them Advil or Tylenol is a good thing. ;)

Sounds like a virus to me. Switch between infants Advil and infants Tylenol every 4 hours. Go to the er if u feel very concerned and can't reach your doctor

High fevers are usually bacterial in nature, not viral. I would have it investigated. There are a lot of things it could be without cold or flu symptoms (bladder infection, ear infection, tonsillitis, encephalitis, sepsis, meningitis, etc.). Better to have it checked out and have it be nothing than not have it checked out and have it be something.

My youngest had a fever of 106,of course I FREAKED out...they did blood tests at the ER and never found anything...
However if it has lasted more than 3 days(a fever above 103 in MOST kids under 2,lasting more than 3 days, can be a sign of a infection),if he is lethargic,if he is not drinking or is dehydrated then you should probably take him to urgent care,or at least call the Dr and ask them what to do.

If meds are bringing the fever down... most likely he'll be ok until you can get him in to someone on Monday. If you are really worried though... call the local hospital and ask for their input. They may want you to bring him to the ER just to be on the safe side.

The first time any of my kids got a fever that high I was kind of panicked too, but then I came to learn that 103 is their 'normal' sick temp, so 104 isn't that big of a deal here. For some kids though... 104 is super high. At his age it shouldn't do any damage at that temp. I'd be much more concerned if it wasn't going down at all.

Again though, if you're worried.... call someone.
