I am new to the here it goes! My 18 month old is underweight. She weighs 19 pounds and a few ounzes. The allergist confirmed that she is allergic to we have tried other milks (i.e. almond, soya, coconut) but no luck. She loves breastfeeding and that is all she wants when she is sick. She is in daycare and often has a cold. I am getting worried because she does not eat enough solids. We have tried everything. Do I continue to breastfeed or cut it off completely??? Ahhhh....but it is the only source of milk that she is getting! I feel desperate for answers :0(

I would not cut her off if it is the only nutrition you think she is getting. But at 18 moths you need to get her rolling with solids. Has she always been tiny or has her growth slowed or even lost weight? Try offering nutrient dense foods, meat, nuts, cheese and keep offering them often. Limit nursing until after mealtimes. If she is full of milk she won't have much appetite. Has you doctor voiced a concern? Does she have a medical or metabolic issues, apart from the milk allergy?
