My granddaughter cord fell off partially and the remaining part is wet with a brown color wetness is this normal?

It looks like half of it feel off and the other half is still in her naval shoyld we still drop alcohol on it?

Thanks ladies,just a concerned first time grandparent,I don't recall anything like this when I had my son and daughter.

I might check in with the doctor before doing anything just to be safe. He/she might want to look at it in person just to see what's going on. It may be totally normal and just need a little more time or the doc may recommend something to help it heal.

If I remember correctly, you really want the cord to dry up which is what causes it to fall off. Remember no full baths until the cord is totally gone. The area should be kept dry as much as possible. My son's cord fell off but then was bleeding a little and it was because it hadn't dried all the way down in his belly button. We had to drop rubbing alcohol on it several times a day to help it dry up. But I would check with his doc before doing this - just my experience.
