Baby talk :D

My son is 16 months old and is only saying words like mama and dada. My husband is worried that he should be saying more and starting to actually "talk, talk". When should he start saying things more than mama and dada??

It takes a while for them to. My daughter is 14 months and can say mama. That is it. My son is 5, and her really started talking around 2 1/2. All I can suggest is reading a lot to him, and using full sentences and words. No baby talk to him. Also, you can describe what you are doing throughout the day, just talk to talk so he can hear you. Have an on going dialogue. "I am going to make a snack now" describe what you are doing. "I am putting the dishes away" name each object. With toys, pick them up, talk about color, texture, count fingers hands toes, nose...etc. Just let him hear the language. He will pick it up.
