I started cereal on Fathers Day. He was doing well with it. So I started Sweet Potatoes and then Squash. After the Squash he started vomiting about 2 hours after the feeding. Called the Dr. They told me to stop everything except for his formula/breast milk. Well to make a long story short called the Dr many more times. They think it could be acid reflux again. He had some problems the 1st couple months( had to change formula, get Mylicon, acid reflux drops). Also was told maybe I am feeding him too much. Well if the baby is hungry I am gonna feed him.

Well gave it a try w/the cereal again and guess what he vomited 2 hours after he ate it. Called the Dr again and now they want to see him.

So need to take him in on Monday since the Dr he usually sees is in another office tomorrow.

I am very frustrated!

Has anyone else had anything like this go on w/their baby??

Jacob is 5 months today (July 23rd, 2009)

My baby was sensitive to squash including pumpkin & zucchini. She vomited every time I gave it to her. Took my a couple times before I realized it since I had three preschoolers who I figured were bring ing home viruses.

Usually 2 hours after a feeding is a little bit to long afterwards for it to be an allergy or intolerance, that reaction usually happens right away. Does he get upset or mad while, or just before he vomits? How is he afterwards? My son had acid reflux bad for the first year, but it was always right after never that long after a feeding. Try keeping him upright for a while after he eats.

Yes, you might be feeding him to much at one feeding start off with a couple of spoons fulls. The have him sit up right for about 20 min. after each feeding.

Yes...my daughter was diagnosed with acid reflux at about 2 days old. She was put on reglan and zantiac. I hated that medicine. I use to put cereal in her bottles but then she couldn't go to the bathroom. I took her to a different doctor and this is what he told me...After your baby eats keep him at a 20 degree angle for 20-30 minutes. Don't ever put him a carseat after he has eaten. You have to give the food time to go down. The doctor had me give my daughter 2 oz of juice and water a day. Plus he put her on prevacid and she is doing better. We also had to change her formula to Alimentum. And use Dr. Brown's bottles...they are the best for babies with acid reflux. They are a little bit more expensive but a gastorinerlogist told us to use them. You can also try to change the cereal in his bottle to the Beech Nut brand. It does NOT contain soy. You are suppose to put 1 tablespoon of cereal to an oz of milk. I hope this helps..hang in there. I know the feeling of frustration. My child is going thru the same thing...

Thanks everyone for your replies. You all have helped a great deal.
He was on the acid reflux drops for about a week (about 1 month old) then stopped since he was better. I also had to change his formula to soy. He also has a little breast milk still. He stopped on his own with nursing but I still pump. I asked the Dr if the breast milk upset his tummy but he didnt think it should.
He has been eating smaller meals about 5 oz about every 3-4 hours. If I gave him any less he wants more. He usually sleeps through the night but he gets up between 3:30-5 am every morning. Then I give him a bottle then he goes back to sleep for few more hours. I also noticed that he sleeps a lot more during the day. Some days he is only up about 4-5 hours total. The past few days he only slept a total of 2 hours through out the day. I am not sure if I should be concerned? He is also starting the roll over in the crib & get stuck. I find him on his stomach sucking on his thumb or his blanket. Any ideas how to keep him from rolling?
Thanks again!

I had the same problem..but I hadn't started baby food yet. My daughter would projectile vomit all over the place..yeah totally gross! She had acid reflux really bad and once I started her on the medicine our Dr. put her on she did much better. Have they put him on anything for relux? If not I would for sure! I also had to change her fomula to Soy..I dunno if you have tried that, but we had to bc she couldn't stomach the milk based formula. She did great with Soy, you may wanna try that. Hang in there! It will pass with age!

Hey Heather! I have a mom in childcare with this same thing. Turned out the baby has a kind of infant acid reflux. He's on smaller meals more often, no milk with meals and sitting up for about 30 minutes after he eats. He also takes some kind of liquid RX twice a day, but I don't know what that is. He also gets gas drops and sips of water during the day...it seems to help. His older brother went through it as well, it took him to the age of 3 to stop throwing up!

Yes I did. Don't worry too much about it. They can give you something to stop the acid reflux (we had something similar to gasvicon for children I think it was arrow root powder). It soon stops.
