Anubha, lots of patience, try warming the nipple first so it will feel warm in her mouth. Offer the bottle when she is hungry but not starving. Having someone else feed her will help too. Try pumping your milk and put it in the bottle, or even start a sippy cup. At 8 moths it is time to start trying some soft solids.

So if I understand the baby is just born? He was early, and your are giving him breast milk and adding formula to the breast milk to increase the calories so he will gain weight. Is he still in the hospital? If not, keep following the advice of the doctors and he will probably slowly gain weight. Even full term babies can lose weight in the first few weeks. At 2-3 weeks, hopefully he should be back to the weight he was at birth and keep gaining weight. Keep feeding him whenever he is willing to eat. He probably will take small amounts but every 1-2 hours. If he is making urine and having bowel movements, that is a sign he is getting enough to eat. Lots of skin to skin contact, have him sleep on your chest, helps tiny babies maintain their weight and also keeps him warm. I hope that helps.

Vishal; I am not understanding what you are saying. He was 1600 grams at birth? How old is he now? There is no exact right weight for a baby. Breast milk is the best food for him but if he is not gaining weight you need to talk to his doctor.

Try pumping some of your milk and mixing it with formula to help him adjust to the taste. Is he refusing the bottle or cup? Keep trying to introduce solids, it takes patience and practice. If he is losing weight, you need to discuss it with is doctor.
