According to everything I read when I was pregnant average birth weight is 7 lbs. 5 oz. and normal is between 5 lbs. 5 oz. and 10lbs. I personally would not want to have that 10 pound baby! My girls were 6 lbs. 9 oz. and 6 lbs. 5 oz. and both were fine. They weren't even low birth weight. At 6 lbs. 1 oz. she is in the normal range so unless she doesn't gain weight you really shouldn't have anything to be concerned about. She might just be small but like Dove said there's nothing wrong with that as long as she is healthy.

It's technically smaller than average, but it's bigger than 3 of my nephews were at birth. Two of them are still on the small side at 6 and 8 (the 4 year old is close to 'average' now), but there's nothing in the world wrong w/ being small as long as they are healthy.

I deliver 6 pound babies all the time. Sometimes even 5 and of course preemies who are smaller. we are satisfied with babies who weight 6 pounds :)
