I'm a babysitter and I charge $15 per hour in Los Angeles. I'm in my 60's and experienced. But this is as an occasional sitter. As a regular 2 day a week gig I'd probably drop my rate to $10 especially for an infant and in my own home.
But $15 is the going rate for date nights and especially if there are multiple children!

My last child care job I was paid $10/hour... and I was cheaper than their last nanny. She received $12/hour for one child and $14/hour for two.
It depends on where you are and what people are willing to pay and it varies GREATLY from area to area... and even family to family cuz that $10/hour was the highest paying job I ever had. ;)
