Babysitting for a family member was suppose to be a paid job.

Lost my job a year ago. My great niece asked me if I would babysit for her and she would pay me $100/week. She has a 1 year old and 4 year old. She worked anywhere from 40-60 hours a week. I was so excited to watch them, as I really love them very much and I also needed the money, which I made it clear to her. Well lets just say she got so far behind in paying me that she now owes me over $1000. She kept telling me she would pay me next week or her ex would pay soon. That never happened, I stopped babysitting and now she is being very mean and rude, telling me maybe she will pay me maybe she won't. I loved watching my 2 nieces and cannot believe she is acting this way. I am seriously thinking about taking her to court. Do not know what to do.

Sometimes it's best to not combine business and family.
Did you have the agreement in writing? If not then you don't have any proof of the agreement and it will get thrown out of court. If you take it to court then you won't ever have a relationship with her or the children again. It can have worse ramifications to pursue it.
