MY 3 YEAR OLD SON JUST RECENTLY STARTED PRE-SCHOOL AND IT SEEMS LIKE EVER SINCE HE STARTED HIS ATTITUDE AT HOME HAS GOTTEN WORST. WHEN I DROP HIM OFF HE THROWS A FIT FOR 5-10MIN BUT THEN HE'S REALLY GOOD FOR THE REST OF THE DAY. ALL THE TEACHERS TELL ME HE'S A GREAT KID, PARTICIPATES, LIKES INTERACTING AND HE KEEPS HIMSELF BUSY. WHEN I PICK HIM UP HE TELLS ME HOW MUCH HE LIKES HIS SCHOOL...HE LOVES IT! SO IT'S JUST THE DROPPING HIM OFF PART, IT KILLS ME TO SEE THE WAY HE GETS. HE STARTS PICKING UP CHAIRS AND THROWING THINGS AROUND IN HIS CLASSROOM ;( THEN WHEN I PICK HIM UP N WE GO HOME HE YELLS, THROWS TANTRUM I TRY TO PICK HIM UP TO CALM HIM DOWN, I HAVE EVEN IGNORED HIM, BUT NOTHING SEEMS TO WORK. I TRY TALKING TO HIM, I TELL HIM TO TAKE DEEP BREATHS, TO BE HONEST AT TIMES I EVEN TRY TO BRIBE HIM BUT HE JUST GETS WORST AND STARTS SLAMMING DOORS ETC. THIS UPSETS ME BECAUSE I'MMM SOOO GOOD TO HIM THAT HIS ACTIONS BREAK MY HEART. IT CONCERNS ME. ANY ADVICE?

He is 3 and unfortunately tantrums if you don't step on them early grow, so tell him I understand you are upset but this behavior is unexceptable then place him in time out. When he calms talk to him about his behavior and find out why he is feeling this way. Acknowledge his feelings and then help him to learn to deal with them in a better way.
