I'm about to make some mattress covers for a bassinet. No pattern, can't imagine it's needed. But can someone please tell me which type would be better? Either one that has boxed corners with elastic to hold it on, or one that is like a pillow sham that overlaps in the back (no ruffle...lol). I have to get down to sewing it so any input would be appreciated!!

It shouldn't be able to be lifted up if the bub rolls - it's a SIDS concern. I'd make one that goes over the whole mattress like the pillow sham.

Does anyone have directions on how to make a sham style bassinet sheet cover for pad?

Thanks, that's what I was initially thinking, and having no luck with the elastic edges, so I'm on my third attempt!! pillow sham style this time.

I would take a crib size mattress cover and cut into two and sew that unfinished side that you just cut and finish it off with elastic. That sounds the simplest thing to do and the most economical (if money is any issue). I suspect it should be big enough as bassinet pads are so small. Of course it's been years since I've sewn anything for the nursery but I would measure and give that a whirl. Good luck!
