bassinett to crib

We had our baby in a bassinet in our room for a start, and then put her in her cot in her own room at 3months old. I had read it wouldn't be as traumatic for them if done earlier cause when they are older than 3mths they are more aware of others around them so would be used to us in the same room. We had no problems at all with the shift!

There is no right or wrong time to do this. If the baby has their own room the sooner you move them the easier it will be privacy wise for you and independance wise for the baby. As long as you have a monitor to hear with let them become used to alone time. If the baby is making noise but not crying let them entertain them selves for a few minutes before you go in. This teaches them that you are not on a leash and teaches you to let them discover things, even if it is just their own fingers at this stage.
i bought an adjustable cot (the ones you can use up to 3 years) and took the front off. i put it on the lower setting and then pushed it up against our bed so it was basically a little extension to my side of the bed. this way, i could just roll over to breatfeed at night, while my little one was still safe after falling asleep. they sell the exact same thing as a 'bed nest' for hundrets of pounds!!! alanah slept in her cot from day 1. i lifted the head end of the crib slightly because she was very clogged up for the first month (just put a couple of thick books under the legs) i also rolled up a baby duvet really tight and stuffed in in on the sides and bottom to make the cot smaller (so that she wouldn't get cold at night) while still being saf with no suffocation hazards

My daughter was about 3 months, she was quite tall and literally grew out of it :( which was a bummer because I loved our bassinet. We then moved her cot into our room as my husband was worried about the risks etc. At about 6 months she started waking all the time so we moved her cot back to her room and from that night she slept right through the night!!

We moved my son at 2 months, then the heat broke so we moved him back into the bassinet in our room where it was easier to use a space heater to keep everyone warm, then back to the crib at 3 months; then he had a lot of health issues so spent some time in the bassinet at 5 months so we could keep a close eye on him before moving to the crib at 6 months. He never had an issue over where he slept, so it was more a matter of what was better for us in current circumstances. By 6 months, it was definitely time to make the move permanent because he was moving around and getting too big for the bassinet.

With my son he was 4 weeks, but he was a big baby and the bassinett was kind of small, I thought he would be more comfortable in a crib. With my daughter she was 4 months old, her father and I were having problems so he was on the couch, so I wasn't in a hurry to move her over.

My first son was in a bassinet in our room till about 8 weeks and then in his own room until about 3 months and then he started moving a lot and it made me nervous (he started turning over really young). My second son was in the bassinet in our room for about a week but my DH snoring kept him awake which in turn kept me awake so after that he was in his own room in the bassinet or his bouncy chair until almost 6 months. He had a lot of health problems and was very small and didn't move around. He also had to sleep on an incline which was easier in the bassinet then the crib.

I would say just keep trying a little bit more each night and eventually she will sleep there. My daughter would only sleep in her little chair that vibrates for the first couple weeks-a month. I know not the greatest but what can ya do. The first time it was like 4 hours, next it was 5 hours then 6 hours and so on. She has been sleeping in her crib through the entire night since about 2 months old and she is now 4 and a half months old! My daughter never did sleep in a bassinet, she does just great in her crib!
Good luck! :)

My daughter stayed in our room in the pack n play for 5 months. She was born 8 weeks premature so I think we may have been a little overly cautious. I have a friend who moved her daughter after 1 week. I think whenever you feel comfortable with transitioning her is most important :)
