They are more of a material feel to the back but indeed water proof. Just google water proof mattress pads, or go to your local bed bath. They may have them there. I know we need a new one.

Thank you" Little Miss Can't Be Wrong" for responding from what i have been told it is just a matter of her bladder being immature and she will eventually stop! there is nothing mentally or physically wrong Just a case of her bladder catching up with her body. as did I when I was 16 it suddenly started getting less and less until I was dry at night with my G niece this has began to get less per week the doctors are aware of this and that was their verdict after having all the tests done evaluations etc; she is a fine well emotionally stable young Lady of nearly 14.

I know of the plastic backed mattress pads but not of the ones you talk of ?

There are mattress pads that are water proof without feeling like plastic. She will never know the difference. Invest in one of those to protect your mattress.

Also, this really should be brought to a doctors attention. There is either something medically happening here, or emotionally. After 8, it is usually investigated.
