Bed Wetting problem

I have two boys, the youngest age 4 is potty trained and has been since he was 3 years old, but my other son just turned 8, and he is obviously potty trained lol but he still wets the bed every night. My 4 year old doesn't wet the bed and stays dry all night. I'm putting those "goodnight" underpants on him and some nights he will soak through the pull up. We bought a new mattress and put a mattress protector on it, and he peed it the 1st night. How much longer will he have trouble? We are not making him feel bad about it, we just want it to stop. It's very expensive. Any suggestions, ideas, comments, thanks.

Who can say how long it will take? My step son wet the bed until he was 13. It wasn't anything medical, he just wasn't developmentally ready to sleep all night without peeing and he was a very heavy sleeper. My brother was 16 before he stopped having the occasional issue. Some children take longer than others. There are things you can try, but they don't always work.

First, have you had him checked by a doctor? Sometimes bed wetting can be a symptom of a medical issue and you should rule that out. While you are there, discuss some of your options. However, you need to understand that this is not necessarily something that is going to resolve quickly.
