Hi everyone!
Im new to the community and im a young stepmum. I am well aware that i can not have a lot of influence over my step sons routine but i was just wondering what bed yime is appropriate for a 5yr old. He also has a tv in his room which he is allowed to watch when he goes to bed. He is put to bed at about 8pm except for the holiday

Well, 8 isn't a bad time for a 5 yo. Depends on what time he needs to be up in the morning, really.

We only have him on weekends but he usually gets up at about 7:30 but no later than 9am. I know only having him weekends is not a lot of ground to have a routuine but he is starting school ful time next year and he will need all the rest he can get. I dont agree with a tv in his room at all but thats not my call. So im just trying to keep it to a minimum. i want to make sure that he gets plenty of rest when he starts school but also make sure that my partner get our time together. sometimes i struggle with having him around but he is a great kid mostly and i love him like my own. We are hoping to start having a baby in about 12months time. I struggle because i was fully aware of what i was taking on and prepared for the responsibility of being a step mum. However i just struggle with keeping my mouth closed and knowing just what i can and xant do. its my step son that made me want children. Before him i didnt want children but he changed my mind and he has taught me heaps about being a good mum and i wouldnt change my life for the world. Im only 20 but i feel ready for the next step being a mum and a wife :) Thank you so much for your comment.

I guess it depends what time he's getting up in the am, when my son started kindergarten his bedtime routine started at 8 a book, snack, and teeth brushing and he'd usually be asleep by 8:30. Both my kids have tvs in their rooms but they are not used at bedtime and hardly ever used at all.
