I planned on having beer at my son's 1st birthday obviously for the adults to drink but I've had family memebers telling me that you never have alcohol at kids parties. I dont think i've ever been to a bday party without alcohol even when it is for children. how do you feel, what do you think?

We'll be offering alcohol at my daughter's 1st birthday. I believe that the people attending are intelligent and responsible adults who can handle it. And those that aren't are too young to drink anyway :) I personally feel that anyone getting tipsy or drunk would be highly inappropriate for such an event, but I am not at all concerned that my guests will drink that much.

I have never been to a party for a kid that had alcohol. If someone leaves a drink unattended and a kid gets a hold of it. Think about it, it's only a party for an hour or two, I think people good forgo alcohol for that long.

It's super tacky. Geez give up the booze for one day.
I don't think I've ever been to a kids birthday party that DID have booze.

Thats stupid. If no one is getting drunk and stupid and the kids dont have any access to it, i really dont see the issue!

For our sons birthday parties, we've always had beer. All of our friends are adults of drinking age and none of them have children. So why not make sure everyone is covered in what they want to drink?

I dont see anything wrong with it.I have had pool partys for my son and the adults have had a couple beers its not like anyone was trying to get drunk. It was just a social drink one or two.I say there is nothing wrong with it .It is just being polite.Having it to offer is a nice gesture. It is just common sence to put your drink out of reach of children though.Anyone with half a brain would know not to leave there drink where children could reach it.

I have three kids and have had alot of birthday parties for them. We have done it both ways, and both ways were always fun and everybody was responsible! The only thing is, for my older son when he invited friends whose parents were dropping them off, I made sure they are aware that we had a few adults drinking beer. They had no problems, if they did they would not have brought thier kids to my home. So I say enjoy your party with a few beers, and have FUN!!!

i have been to enough kids birthday parties that have had alcohol. i think it is fine as long as every adult that is there is mature enough and doesn't get to drunk or out of control. and just watch the children that they don't get into any of it. have fun :)
