I actually have two questions, first I am looking for ideas to potty train my almost 3 year old. I have tried many things and nothing is working. The second is I am not sure how to get my daughter to listen to me at all. I live at home since my husband left my daughter and myself at a month and a half old. She runs away from me at the stores and have to have the place on lock down. I am not sure how to get her listen to me Please Help!

As for the potty training she really has to want to do it. If she has no interest in it you're not going to get any where potty training is not something you can force on to them, believe I tried and it only makes things worse. Unfortunately we're ready for them to get out of diapers a lot sooner then they're ready themselves.

In regards to your second question: Discipline.Figure out what you're comfortable with are you ok with spanking, time-outs, or loss of privledges? Which ever form you choose stick to it and be consistent. You cannot have situations where your daughter got time out last week for hitting but this week you're not doing time out because she'll through a fit and you don't want to hear her scream. I must stay firm. Also it helps when you explain things to them. "Sweety you cannot run of in the store because it's dangerous, you'll get lost and be scared and I'll be sad" then perform whatever discipline you choose.

The biggest thing is be consistent and firm you little one has to know that mom is the boss. And do not let others tell you how to discipline if you're only comfortable with time outs don't let someone tell you spanking is the only way or vice versus. Good luck!
