My son willbe 3 next month. Recently, we've hit a part of life that when he crys he throws up. I don;t know if its a behavioral problem, or if its his stomache. He throws up, and then he feels a lot better.. i called my doctor and i'm supposed to keep an eye on him, which means keeping a journal of the things he eats and drinks. I dont know what to do have any other moms had this problem? what can i do to fix/help him not throw up?

My nephew has this problem. I will explain all of his physical attributes and you can see if there is a correlation or not. Then, I have some suggestions upon which you may try to help alleviate the problem.

My nephew is 3 years old and both parents are heavy set. He himself is on the heavier side. He is a sweet boy but when he has a tantrum he does in fact vomit and feels better. He doesn't eat a lot of junk food nor does he have any disability such as autism, ADHD or anything of that matter. I personally believe it is a combination of overeating (for him), knowing how to get out of trouble (that break to go puke), and "overheating" himself. Some children who have asthma when they get too excited in this case throw a tantrum they start wheeze. The same concept is applied here. He may have an underlying condition where he does tend to over eat and when he gets to riled up it ensues vomiting.

Of course follow all precautions by your pediatrician. However, along side of your journal make sure he isn't eating foods high in acid or sugar including sauces like ketchup. Milk or cheeses can be the culprit -lactose intolerance. Make sure you not only take note of his diet but regulate it to include or exclude.

Also, learn his cues when he gets most frustrated. What is your form of discipline? Before you issue out a time out for instance, try showing him deep breathing techniques, counting or anything to calm himself.

Hope this helps :D

Do you think he is crying BECAUSE his stomach hurts? Or is the throwing up a result of a tantrum?
