Belief in Fairies

I am the grandmother and when at my house, my 8 year old grand-daughter leaves notes on a particular shelf for the fairies. I played along with it and left her notes in return and little presents and cookies. She is really taking this seriously and now her bedroom is full of notes too. Both her Mom and I think it has gone a little too far but we don't know how to stop it, and we of course encouraged it. Should we continue to leave little presents, although no more notes. She constantly looks for a reply and is so disappointed when there is nothing. Help!!!!!

Personally I think the notes are a lot cheaper than the gifts and it encourages reading, and writing since she is leaving notes for the fairies. Maybe leave a note that says the fairies can only visit once a week going forward.

Like you said, you encouraged it to start with.
Maybe write a note saying that the fairies are very busy and won't be able to stop by anymore or something along those lines.
