I'm not a mom but I just would like to ask a question.
Would you let me get my belly button pierced if you were my parents?
Reasons:
-self confidence
-I lost 33 lbs and hopefully many more
-I have straight a's
-birthday present
-i'm going to be 15

Oh, just to add to what everyone is saying, where I live, your parents can sign for you if you are 16 or older on piercings. Ears can be done with parental signature much younger, but thought I would throw that out there.

A piercing does not give you confidence.

Weight loss does because you feel good about yourself and the accomplishment.

Straight A's have nothing to do with getting a vital area on your body pierced.

Not my idea of a birthday present, pierced ears yes, belly pierced no.

Just because you will be 15 does not mean that your are mature enough to handle this type of piercing. Where I live they have to have a certificate from the health department certifying that they use a new needle or set of needles every time, use gloves, and have a clean work area. Also, you have to be 18 to get one or your parents have to sign or be there when you get it done. You also need to know how to care for it because unlike ears this is closer to vital body parts in your body and a belly button is harder to care for. Grades, age, and present status have nothing to do with getting one nor does self confidence....you have to give yourself confidence by facing things in life and working through them.

If you were my kid, the answer would be no. But since I am not mom or dad, go ask them please.

Oh, you can get it with a parent signature here too. I'm just saying, that isn't the law saying you can decide for yourself. That's the law saying you are too young to make that decision on your own and you need to discuss it with your parents. Personally, my discussion would be about how the law has set a limit for when you can decide for yourself and I'll go with that.

Then ask your parents for permission. We are not your parents.

Nope. The law where I live says you can decide for yourself when you are 16, so that's when I'd let you decide.
