I would speak with your doctor about it before you give ANY medications. They can be potentially dangerous for them. Also, benadryl in children can cause a hyper active affect rather than a sleepy affect.

I agree, it could make for an even more stressful trip. Especially because you'd need to give multiple doses. Bring one bag with small toys and books for the baby. It is probably going to be easy at times and not so easy at others. Ask the flight attendant for ideas, they see babies fly internationally every day.

I would use an essential oil like one blend named Peace and Calming. I quit using over the counter drugs about four months ago.

We had a 24 hour flight with our son when he was 11months old. He slept most of the time, and when he was awake i gave him stickers to play with and he got a colouring book with crayons from the flight attendant. Try to take toys with that wont get lost or annoying..like a small ball, not that it rolls away and you have to get it. Have a safe flight and dont worry too much. Like i said, our son slept most of the time and it went well.

Personally, I wouldn't. There are actually no real benefits.

I found this interesting article while I was trying to look for the research I had read about it. It summarises one parent's experience as well as some of the science and potential side effects.
