Big Girl Bed?

My daughter is now 15 months old and she's climbing everything. She climbs out of her crib or playpen whenever she wants to, usually with a hefty thud on the ground. it makes me very nervous, especially since she has climbed out of bed in the middle of the night and twisted her are. She has also climbed out and gotten into bed with my husband and I, and we have no idea until morning. I need to know if I could put her in a toddler bed so she at least won't hurt herself, and if so, how do I transition her into it? Thanks ♥

make the move to toddler bed. deffinantly put up the gate in the doorway though so she cant get out. also make sure exspecially when shes learning to sleep in her bed make sure her bedroom is totally babyproof and not have toys everywhere so she doesnt want to play

My son was in a toddler bed at about 14 months. (His crib converted to a toddler bed). I put a bed guard on it, and put a gate on his door so that he couldn't run around the house. If she's crawling out of her crib, she is ready for a different bed. She could end up falling and hurting herself if she is escaping it all the time.

My kids were out of their cribs around a year old for the same reason - but they didn't get into bed with us. We bought a twin mattress and put it on the floor so that if they kids fell out, they wouldn't be hurt. I'm not sure how to transition a child but think about skipping the toddler bed only because it is an extra expense that is not necessary.

Does a gate hold her? If so put one up! (at 2 our son broke out of the majority of the gates, at 2 1/2 we can't find a gate that will hold him in). If you don't have a gate that will work you need to make sure everywhere in the house is well protected! One morning our son at 1 1/2 pushed a chair up to the counter, climbed onto the counter, used containers as step stools and got onto the top of the fridge. Good luck!

Some parents will put a new bed in there and let them transition that way, what we did was move the crib into the toddler bed position so he didn't have a choice. The first two nights he was so excited he spent the entire night getting on his bed, then down, etc.

First of all buy a stairgate for her bedroom so that she can not get any where else in the house. If you are going to buy a bed then make sure you buy a bed guard which will stop her from rolling over in the night and falling out. Babies when tired will sleep any where and she will soon get used to her new surroundings. Just transfer her toys to her bed and after a few nights she should be fine. It is very important to make sure that her bedroom is completely safe for her to explore so make sure all sockets are capped and nothing small is left on drawers that she could swallow.
