My son Brian lies a lot but I know when he is luckily. He keeps telling his friends that he has a twin that goes to a different school and that our family was shipwrecked on an island for 3 years. Everyone in his class thinks he is super popular because of the lies he tells

My son went through a somewhat similar situation when my son was about 7. His lies were about his father. I realized he was lying about these things because he simply wanted to fit in and have a dad in other kids eyes.

What I did is inform the teachers of the truth. Then I had a long talk with him about it being okay not to have a father in his life. It stopped pretty much right away.

It seems your child's lies have to do with family life. First talk to him about it. Figure out what he feels like he is missing out on. Maybe try to make home life a little more exciting so he can talk about what is *really* going on in his life. Go skating, bowling, fishing, what ever it is he might enjoy.

Please explain to him that everyone has different lives. Everyone is different. Being different makes us special. People wjo truely love us do so no matter who are family is, what we do in our day to day life, or where we came from.
