my daughter is about to be 13. my offerings were out to dinner with a select(4 other) friends. mall trip with select friends, each girl getting $20 to spend and lunch at food court. Movies with select friends.
these years seem to be hailing less friends as the "not so nice" girls are going by the way side. I offered solo mom/daughter activities such as mani/pedi, horse ride on the beach(year round here), shopping spree with the budget I allocated for party.
other ideas: paint your own canvas/painting
pottery paint place
color themed bday party(done this at 11th- girls loved it)
I am not a fan of slumber parties as my daughter has her expectations set way too high from elaborate TV shows, magazines, movies, books. That's not real life. Plus parents have a hard time picking kids up when they are suppose to.
