My son is turning 4 soon and this year i want to do a kids only party. I wrote an invitation and thought of having the party from 15:30 till 17:00.When my husband saw it he laughed and asked if it isnt too short. We are going to have hotdogs and cake and do two or three games like musical chairs etc. We are inviting 4 girls, age 4-6. Is one and a half hours too short? Would two hours be better? Or any advice about how long a party should be? We are going to go do something special with him in the morning and one of the girls has school till 15:00. So we can only start the party at 15:30.

I generally used to do 2 hours at that age. By the time you eat and play games, it does pass pretty fast. To the point even 2 hours was almost too short (the number of times I also turned up to pick my daughter up from a party and they were still doing cake, I couldn't count!!). Honestly, if you add up settling in time, eating time, game time, opening present time, cake time, it's a pretty full 2 hours.
