Okay guys sorry but this is gonna be a long one. I need some more reassurance.
Yesterday morning at 5 am I woke up to a mucus looking pink and whitish discharge when I wiped and called my dr at 8 to be seen. They got me in at 945 and did a vaginal ultrasound and we saw a healthy 6 weeks on the dot baby with a strong heart beat. I was still spotting a little that wad more pinkish brown by now. The dr told me my baby looked perfect and I had a less than 3% chance of miscarraige (I'm assuming based on my age, health, and baby's health) and that the spotting could be from sex I had the day before last. So I came home reassured and excited! Around 630 I started cramping like my first day period cramps and started bleeding a little. I called the on call nurse and she asked me a series of questions and told me it was probably from the ultrasound but to call back if I bled enough to soak a pad. I called back around 10 because I had bled enough to soak a pad and I spoke with another nurse who told me that it was probably just from the ultrasound. By this time the bleeding had slowed to spotting. She wanted me to call my dr in the morning. So this morning I called my dr and spoke to a 3rd nurse and she asked me if the bleeding had stopped and I told her it's still there but it's nothing compared to last night and that it's just spotting now when I wipe but it's still red with no clots, just blood. I've not passed any clots the whole time. She told me based on the info the other nurses documented last night and the results from my ultrasound it seemed to be fine and told me to play the waiting game until it stopped bleeding and if it didn't stop by the morning to call back. I asked her if it could possibly be a subchorion hematoma and she said they look for that on the US and there was no sign of one. Had anyone experienced anything like this?? I am trying to stay calm because my dr was certain that I was very healthy and so wad baby but that amount of blood scared me. It's my first pregnancy. All the info I've read on miscarraige said that the bleeding lasted like a week at least for most of these women. Someone give me some reassurance and tell me my baby is going to be fine!! Oh, I am 6w1d today. I wad 6 weeks even at the time of the bleeding. Thanks yall.

Rest easy. While no one can guarantee you that your baby is fine, this sort of bleeding is typical after a vaginal US. They do have to prod around a bit and your cervix may have been irritated. The thing to remember is it stopped and the cramping stopped too. To clarify what the nurse meant by soaking a pad, is really saturating a full size maxi pad. Like it is so full you would bleed thru if you sat down. If you bled like this for more than one pad per hour for more than 2 hours, I would be gravely concerned. A subchorion hematoma should have been seen on the US but even if that was what was happening, that condition usually self resolves and does not cause complications with the pregnancy. Your worry is very typical and I know it feels like forever before you can go back and see the baby or hear its heartbeat. Best of Luck and Congratulations!

Thank you so much Sarah!! That is so reassuring. It did kind of hurt when she was moving it around I felt some pressure and it was prettt uncomfortable. I am gonna be one of those pregnant women who call and make appointments over everything....lol. I made an appointment for tomorrow to visit my OB to make sure little bean is fine. Yeah I don't think I bled enough to completely saturate a maxi pad in one hour. Over the course of probably 4 it was saturated. Thank you so much for your help. It is making me feel much better!
