Bloodwork on a 3 month old?

Last month my son (3 months at the time) went to the doctor because he was spitting up a lot. The doctor noticed he was waving his arms a lot (he does that when he wants to be picked up or is overexcited) and said he needed to do bloodwork but didn't tell me why. The nurse told me he thought he was going through withdrawl from hard drugs after the doctor left the room. He came back and drew 3 vials of blood from my sons arm. Is this legal?

Why didn't you ask what the blood was for? I can't imagine allowing anyone to perform any type of invasive procedure until I knew what the purpose and reasoning behind it was. If you allowed them to do this without protest and in your presence, there is no question about the legality of this.
