Bloody Noses

My 4 yr old son has bloody noses quit often. I did take him to the doctor and he said its just the blood vessels that burst from his nose being dry or sneezing. I think he may have alergies because he sneezes a lot and this usually results in a bloody nose. Has anyone experienced this? If so, what did you or were told about this?

I had this with my daughter for a little while and it was more a dry nose issue than anything else. What worked for us was saline solution spray - it keeps the mucous membranes in the nose moist and it pretty much got rid of the nosebleeds (for me as well when I was having them). You can get it in adult or children's format (the children's format is just with a smaller nasal tip, same solution) at pretty much any drugstore and one bottle lasts a really long time.
If you think he has allergies I would watch him to see if he starts sneezing after being exposed to specific things - dust, grass, specific scents, etc. - also if he seems to have cold-like symptoms with runny nose - if his nose is running a lot and it is primarily clear and watery then it's allergies (I found that out through my own allergies) and if it's thicker and yellow-green then it's a cold. When I had my allergies tested that is what the allergist told me to be on the lookout for with a runny nose and it hasn't failed me since.
