Boyfriend thinks I should give HIS kids money when they ask me for it...

He came flat out and said to me during a conversation about money..."you mean to say that you wouldn't give my kids money if they asked you for it??" My reply, "it depends on the situation" and I would like to see them have more respect for money before I just hand it over to them. My dilemma is that we are not married yet nor do we live together. I was a bit shocked that boyfriend thought I should have anything to do with buying his kids the things they want (ie, hair extensions, manicures, haircolor, clothes, etc) these are wants, not needs.
If they needed something and boyfriend couldn't afford it...different story. Any thoughts from the group?

He is showing you who he is. He is showing you what life with him and co-parenting with him will be like.

Red flags. Really BIG red flags. I'd be running the other Sorry, but obviously the children got their lack of respect for money - YOUR money - from your boyfriend!!! It also demonstrates a lack of respect for you.

I don't even give MY kids money just cuz they ask for it, so I sure wouldn't give some other kid money just because. I agree w/ you. If there is a NEED for something specific and a helping hand is required.... sure, no problem (and I'm broker than broke), but just because a kid asks for it? Hell no.
