Breaking out from bibs

My daughter uses catch bibs now that she is eating more finger foods. They are plastic and have a pocket at the bottom. After she eats she get a red rash around her neck where the bib is. Sometimes it is worse than other. Has anyone experienced this or have any suggestions? Thanks

Maybe the bib that you have bought for your child has Latex or it contains those toxic materials that can really cause allergies. I have an advice for you, before buying a particular baby item, seek first the materials and its quality. I have been using that kind of baby bibs with a pocket at the bottom, but it doesn't cause any allergies to my toddler. I guess it is better to first check out the product before buying, especially when it is for the little ones. Babies/Toddlers have a very sensitive skin.

Her problem could be a few things. Have you tried letting out the latch to a looser hook? Does it get worse when you wash it a particular way ie, in the dishwasher vs the sink by hand? We throw ours in the dishwasher every couple of days and handwash in between so no grime builds up and causes a rash. If all else fails, try another bib. The towel-style ones with the t-shirt head hole are good for drippy foods :)

My son gets chaffing from this style of bibs, so we don't use them anymore. They also make it harder for him to reach for food because his arms bumb into the edge of the bib. If I really don't want food getting on his pants I put a recieving blanket on his lap under the highchair tray but most of the time I just brush him off when we're done.

Try a different style of bib. Some are made with different materials. There are cloths versions of these bibs, but incredibly hard to find.
We found the hard plastic pocket bibs would irritate our son's skin, but the soft floppy plastic pocket bibs did not. And then my Mom found us some cloths pocket bibs at the farmer's market near her.

I hope that helps.

If it has latex in it she may have a Latex allergy.Does anything else plastic bother her?
