breastfed too much at night?

Hi Everyone!

My son is a 4 month old twin (as of 3 days ago), breastfed. I work 6 hours a day and during the time I'm gone, he eats up to 8 ounces total of pumped milk. He weighed13 lbs a month ago and today he weighed 16lbs (and 25inches long). The Dr. thinks he is gaining weight too fast. I know that , for the most part, it is best to feed on demand, which I do as much as possible. However, the Dr. seems to think that letting him co-sleep with me and nurse through the night needs to change and is contributing to his rapid weight gain. I have to admit, if I could get him to sleep longer than 2hrs in his own crib, I totally would but I don't know how without nursing him. His sister does so well and sleeps about 6 hours for the first stretch of the night...What do I do?

He sounds perfectly fine (though I'm sure you'd like a longer stretch of sleep). Once he starts being more active and crawling his weight gain should level out.
