Is it safe to have sex with someone other than the baby's father while breastfeeding?

Dove, I guess I assumed too much in that having sex with your baby daddy, meant you were remaining in a monogamous relationship. Your right, if you don't know your partners history take precautions!

As safe as it is to have sex with another partner anytime. Be sure you use a condom to prevent a pregnancy or disease.

I also figured if baby is young enough to be nursing... the relationship w/ the father likely didn't end TOO long ago...

And I forgot to mention the risk of another pregnancy. I figured that was self eplanatory enough though. ;)

Good to know that Michelle Waldbillig. What i thought is what i heard since everyone talks the same. It could be it's a cultural thing to make people to bcareful. But still looks much more wisely parents with same kid to keep each others compony atleast until the little one stop needing mom milk. A bit sad to see small kids get mixed up with all this crazy sex world.

Not true Lawrence.
I would say it was more due to malnutrition, not having sex while breastfeeding.

In Tanzania, swahili language we say ( kubemenda ). It's a a habit of parents having sex around during breast feeding. I have seen with my own eyes, a women who did sleep arnd. The kid were not growing, unhealth, could not even sit after 9mnths. Ended up dead. And everyone sayed a mom could just wait until she were done with breast feeding. I belived what i saw. Better to close up your legs if u r not sleepung with a father. Human we r full of crazy different bacterias. Hope i am not right and i am not wrong.
I was just looking arnd to help my friend who is in the same situation and i am just a currious men. Cheers all moms and out of biological dady keep your legs closed, a men who loves u will never get tired to wait. ;)

Why do so many people always ask this question? It's like people don't understand basic biology or something...

Sex and breastfeeding really have nothing to do w/ each other. The biggest potential concern is if you contract an STD and that is a potential danger no matter if you are having sex w/ a complete stranger OR the baby's father. Who your partner is is a lot less important than what precautions you take and you should be taking those precautions every time you have sex whether you are breastfeeding or not.
