My daughter is now 2 weeks old and I'm breastfeeding her. The problem is that she wants to breastfeed all the time. It feels like she wants to stay on my breast 24/7. Is this normal?

A newborn will nurse as frequently as every 90 minutes and that is from start of feeding to start of feeding. So if she nurses for 40 minutes, within the hour she may want to be nursing again. As long as you can tolerate it, you can let her nurse. If you are getting really sore, make sure she is latching on properly, that her body (and yours body) is well supported and break the seal with your finger if you need to take her off your breast. Lots of fluid and skin to skin contact will help your milk production. Congrats and Good Luck!

Yes. Totally normal. Especially when they are going through a growth spurt.

Hi , my daughter was on me almost all the time till she was about 6 weeks old . sometimes she nursed on one side so much that she ended up sucking lot of air which in turn led to gas and stomach ache which is kind of hard on our little ones . My doc told me its called Comfort feeding . I would say let her nurse for as long as she wants ..just make sure u nurse her on one side completely and then the next time on other side so that she gets hind milk along with fore milk . i say by around 6 th to 7 th week you will get a hang of things and will know when she is hungry or when she needs to be rocked or just cuddled up . You are new mom so eat and drink lots of fluids .I made it a habit to drink a glass of water before every nursing sessions ..ie every hr or so . Tk cr . God bless u n your little angel .
