How long do your nipples feel like they are being attacked by Edward Scissor Hands while nursing? It's been almost 3 weeks! Plus I feel like I can't keep up with his demand. What do I do? Should I add a formula bottle?

Thank you Sarah. It's been 3 weeks and all I do is nurse! He's a milk monster :). I pump every two hours plus nurse.
I'm sticking with it but I did add an ounce of newborn formula to the expressed milk last night out of desperation.
Cross your fingers!

My nipple were cracked and bleeding, it took around a month to really settle down. Make sure you have a good latch. You can express a few drips of milk and let it dry on your nipples after each feeding. I know it sounds weird but it helps the healing. If your baby is gaining weight, has a minimum of 2 poops and 7 wets a day, then you are probably making enough milk. He might go through a growth spurt every few weeks. During those times, he will want to nurse and nurse and nurse, after 36-48 hours your milk supply will increase. Ultimately you have to do what is best for you and your baby. Adding formula won't hurt your baby, but you may need to keep supplementing once you start.
