I've been trying to wean my now 24 month old son for the past 6 months and have not been able to do it. I've tried everything but nothing has worked, he refuses to cooperate with me. The problem is not just him though, I have a very good milk supply and it seems that every time I finally go a whole day without breastfeeding him I get terrible painful clogged milk ducts and I end up breastfeeding again.

It's not best for either of you to go cold turkey... Why not choose times of the day that you WILL nurse and times of the day that you WON'T nurse... and stick w/ that for a while. Nursing 2-3 times/day (assuming he nurses more than that) and then gradually dropping that down 'should' help to regulate your supply to less.

If you want to wean... you are just going to have to be consistent and get it done. If you don't really care either way though... there is nothing in the world wrong w/ letting him continue to nurse until HE is ready to quit. Setting boundaries (nursing behaviors) and limits (times where he can nurse) can help you to not be frustrated by it while still giving him what he needs by nursing.

Good luck!

Oh yeah... my son was nursing way more at that age too. He WAS night weaned, but I started working towards that at 18 months and he was ready at 2 years. At 2 years old I would 'guess' (he's 7 now, so I don't remember that well) that he was nursing 4-10 times/day. ;)

That is also a very big problem I never set those boundaries it is gotten so bad that I'm nursing way over 2 to 3 times a day he is even breastfed trough the night. He is my first baby and I never even planned to nurse over 12 months. I will definitely start with setting those boundaries and taking it slowly thank you for the advice!
