My 13month old boy refuses to eat anything except to breastfeed. I have tried all his favorite foods and fruits but nothing seems to work. Some friends say should stop breastfeeding so that he can eat. Is this a good idea considering am not ready to stop?

Thanks. Yes he is very playful and has a lot of energy. I hope he will come around soon to eating again.

Absolutely not. As long as he is staying hydrated and still growing... he is FINE!

You say you've tried all of his favorite foods... which means he's eaten in the past. How recent is this behavior? He could be teething or not feeling well or just hitting a 'clingy and wants to nurse' stage.

Breast milk is still very important at his age... more so if he's not eating solids at the moment. Go ahead and keep nursing on demand and offering him solid foods at regular intervals. He will eat again when he is ready.

If he is starting to lose weight or get lethargic... absolutely bring him in to the doctor, but a very young toddler not being interested in solids is not a reason for concern if he's otherwise doing well.
