Is the bumbo chair the only thing out there that helps a baby sit up? If not, what else is there thats not too expensive? Need ideas. My five month old wont sit in a bumbo seat but wants to sit up all the time.

That I can't say for sure.. it was given to me to borrow so I don't know what the specific name of it was ("Fisher Price Jumperoo"?Blue and white with an orange print seat)..It had (obviously!) 4 legs-2 sides-on each which were metal/plastic and adjustable 1-2-3 levels for height. The spring/arms held/secured the seat they sit in (same as a walker) which holds all their weight so they use that to control their movement. His walker was also very great for this. They can move, snack, play with whatever toys are on it. They do not get bored and they start becoming more mobile/independent :) His were very very simplistic, they did not have all the toys and gadgets that can I think become overwhelming for them anyway. The Jumperoo didn't have the part that makes noise, just a few spinney toys and the blank tray. The walker had a pretend steering wheel that did light up, (maybe?) made noise, and was removable for eating. Once it died , there was no battery replacement for it so he was outa luck on that, but it had a few little toys on it as well. The feeding tray on it, you could just place some of his favorite toys on it and he was happy:)As for feeding? I got the Baby Bullet and made all his baby food. It comes with a small recipe book, nutrition for certain stages, what veggie/fruit does what for development, and you are able to come up with your own mixes & matches and it is soooo much cheaper than buying yucky smelling baby food! The only baby food I did try was those that contained meat or ones that had veggies he would not eat fresh, but they didn't work either soo (?). The Jumperoo I think you can get for probably about $25+, the walker that we had I think was $20-$30, and the Baby Bullet was I believe about $60. Let me know what you think:) Hope that helps!!

My son always slumped in the Bumbo. We didn't want the traditional high chair cause we were limited on space and asked for one of the feeding chairs that attach to your regular chair (they have straps that attach it to it and a detachable feeding tray and safety straps to strap the baby in). He did very very well in that to sit up (the feeding tray helps keep them in a more upright position -for smaller babies). We started him in it @ 4 months for feeding and he's 27 mos now and we still use it as his booster seat. It is efficient cost and space-wise as well. He also gained ALOT of strength in a bouncer, not just in his posture but in his legs as well. The one he had had 4 levels for height and result in a great overall workout for them that's tons of fun too :) Hope that helps :)
