I'm in Qatar on business and my breast pump motor just gave out due to an electrical adapter problem. I'll be here for 5 more days! My main concern is that I want to still be able to produce breast milk for my son when I return. A secondary concern is that I don't want to walk around lactating out of my shirt or in severe pain. Will hand expression suffice? Any other things I should try to do? What a disaster! I'll never leave home without a hand pump in the future!

I found towards the end of my breastfeeding that hand expressions were more effective. You want to do them as often as you would of pumped but it's much easier in the shower because you're much more relaxed.
