My 14 month old is SO busy! I cannot seem to figure out how to get anything done without him tearing apart the house. He only seems content to play if I am there with him. This is VERY limiting. If I am on the phone, doing dishes, cooking dinner, folding laundry, on the computer, you name it he's into something he's not supposed to be. He will not play independently, and this mom is getting worn out. Any suggestions?

Mine's the same. They just want attention. He follows me, sits outside the toilet while I'm using it, has to come out to the clothesline every time, wants me to play blocks, brings books to me constantly, sits under my feet while I'm doing anything in the kitchen, "helps" unload the dishwasher by just randomly pulling everything out and running away with it thinking he's smart. It's so funny but we just have to make the most of it because one day they won't want us around watching everything they do!! :)

Well, I guess it's just not me or my little guy, is it? I've actually been dropping all of my "hats" so that I can just be with him. He will play with me for hours, really...not just a few minutes. If he's awake he wants to be engaged with me. I struggle to incorporate him in things I need to do. Sometimes it works, but mostly not. He just wants to hang with mom for now, I guess. :o)

Just when the newborn stage gets sussed out by both parents and bub...they move on to being toddlers! A whole new world with new challenges.

I made the most of nap times to get things done or involving them in what I was doing...doing the dishes? give them some plastic cups! When I really had to do something I found a few minutes of "set up play time" (getting them started or interested in something) worked really well and gets them used to playing on their own.

On the whole though your little man is now a toddler and wants to be with you and learn from you.

Hope the toddler years fly by? Lol, I have a 2 year old and he's the exact same way. Climbing on everything, always touching things he isn't suppose to touch versus he own toys... the list goes on. I try and take him out for a run at least twice a day(weather permitting) and it helps a little bit. If he wants me to play he'll sit down for 2 minutes before he's on to the next thing. I feel your pain! I have #2 on the way in 5 weeks, don't know how I'm going to manage!
