California School Children and The Right to Refuse Immunizations

[deleted account] ( 10 moms have responded )

One huge challenge for me is California's new vaccination law.
My question is, who is Jerry Brown to feel that he has the right to choose what is best for my children's health?
As a parent, I know what's best for my child and no one should ever try to step in and make such decisions for any parent when it comes to their child's overall well being and development. There are so many new vaccines that many parents like myself do not agree with. When I had taken my children to see the doctor the other day for their routine physical, the doctor tried to force me into allowing them to inject my son with warts and to inject them both with small pox and whatever else disease they had packaged that did not appear on my kid's immunization card. I believe that two doses of the Hep B shot is necessary and I refuse for any of my children to have a 3rd dose. Some of those scheduled immunization doses are actually to over dose and some of those vaccines are not even necessary at all!
I almost felt as if I was being bullied. I refused for them to do such and then the doctor told me that it is the law and I have to let them do it in order for my child to be able to be accepted into school. Well, I told her that my children had already been accepted into school and that new law which just came out would definitely not immediately apply to me. The doctor then stormed out of the room and brought back a head nurse or doctor in charge who then informed me that next school year, those shots would still await my children, and I would have to allow them to give my children a dose of those unwanted vaccinations.

Would you like to get back to the topic of discussion or try to continue to insult me? Regardless of what my status is, working moms or stay at home moms work their asses off for their children and families. There is no shame in either.

BTW, this is NOT your personal blog. This is a community. You have posted a thought and opinion to a public forum where ANYONE can respond, reply, talk, etc.

Wow. Once again, it is clear you have no idea. You don't need to tell me that.

BTW, please don't contact me via private message again. You can speak to me on an open forum like this. I will not respond or read them.

Hahahaha....ok. If you truly had any education on the topic, you would not be name calling. You would be discussing. It is abundantly clear your soap box cannot support your argument.

FYI, the chicken pox virus is a live virus. If you or your children have an outbreak of the virus after injection (which you need 2 one month apart) then it would be mild compared to actually recieving it through natural exposure.

Thalassa, I highly recommend you take a class in immunology ,or microbiology to understand how vaccinations work, and create immunity in your body. It is clear you do not have that higher level of education on the topic. This unfortunately spreads misinformation.

For instance, regardless of how you are exposed to chicken pox (via vax, or natural exposure) you can get shingles later on in life. Chicken pox is a virus. It never leaves your system, and can pop up at any time, like any other virus....Like Herpes.

If you have personally chosen to not protect your children from harmful and deadly diseases, that is your choice as a parent. To tell others they don't need these vaccinations is simply irresponsible.

MaryAnn, I appreciate your response to my blogg; however, if you have witnessed the effects in which some of these vaccines has already caused in my children, I think you would agree with me. When I was growing up as a child, chicken pox was something that we would allow ourselves to catch naturally...some will get it and some will never get it. Getting the chicken pox vaccine had caused a disgusting blister break out on two of my older children and it will also put them at risk of getting shingles as an adult or later in their elderly years. As far as the Hep B, there is no need for a newborn child to get this shot at birth nor is there a need for a 3rd dose!

Society as a whole has determined that the benefits of immunization outweigh the risks. This is occasionally untrue- and in those situations, doctors will sign off the appropriate papers. These are children (and adults) who are verified allergic to components, and/or have immunodeficiencies. When the unvaccinated are grouped with these fragile members of our society, we put them at risk, and this is not fair.
You do not have the right to put these people at risk. You have the right to make medical decisions for your children, and your children have the right to an education- and this is why there are other options- home schooling.
The state has the right to make decisions for state run schools. And they have decided that the schools are to be safe for the most vulnerable to attend with as little risk as possible to what modern medicine classifies as deadly diseases. These people are well informed.
I, personally, encourage you to see beyond your bias- you likely were not alive to see the devastation some of these easily prevented diseases cause.
