I have a 4 month old kitten and in a months time I will be having a staff puppy which is only 8 weeks old I love both cats and dogs and want my pets to live in harmony but i'm worried about when the dog gets older he might hurt the cat as the cat might take a dislike to the dog and provoke him as the cat has been with us for 6 weeks already. this is the first time i've owned any pets so i want to make double sure i'm doing the right thing. As the puppy is so young i don't think there will be a problem but I cant help but worry is there any tips anyone can give me to ensure them getting along. any help would be greatly appreciated.

I got a puppy when my cat was 6 years old. It's been nearly 3 years since I brought home the dog and they have always been the best of friends. If a six year old cat can adapt to a puppy, a kitten sure can.

They are going to grow up together. They will be fine. Let them do their thing. Cats will bolt if they get nervous, and chances are your cat will beat the crap out of him regardless if him being a gazillion times bigger.
