Can anyone help me with my aggressive 4 year old son?

I have a 4 year old son that has just started getting aggressive. I am getting phone calls almost daily from his daycare that I have to come pick him up because he is hitting or kicking either the teachers or the other kids. He is also throwing toys at daycare and he almost hit another child with it. I have tried everything it seems to get him to stop it. I have taken away his toys, I have put him in time-out, I have even spanked him. I need help, does anyone have any ideas that I can try or and advice. Please help!!!

Punishing him after the fact won't do a thing except make him hate daycare and act out. He needs to learn to use his words instead of his hands.

This needs to fall on the heads of the daycare workers (to a point). What are THEY doing when he acts out like this? Are they able to observe him and predict when he will act out?

At home you need to work with him on using his words. Whenever you see him start to get upset or frustrated give him words to use: "I can see you're angry. Do you want to tell me about it?"
