I think you're supposed to wait a little longer, but applesauce and sweet potatoes are good beginning foods. We won 100 lbs of apples right after my son was born and my mom made them all into applesauce and canned it. My son ate applesauce every day from 5.5 months and finished it just after his 1st birthday! (You just cut up some peeled apples and simmer them in a little water and tada, there's some yummy applesauce - no sugar or cinnamon needed.)

If you mean stewed plain apple then yes if you mean apple sauce from a jar designed for pork chops then no! You know when a child is ready for solids as they are no longer satisfied with milk and are constantly chewing their fists as they are hungry. It is recommended to wait until 6 months but all three of mine were on solids early.

Kinda young! Generally cereal-rice followed by oatmeal later at about 5 mos, then add veggies to that 6 mos, then introduce fruits 7 mos. Veggies before the sweet fruits. Get them to like veggies or they may reject them once they have had fruit.
