Mother of 3. 14 year old son, 5 year old daughter, and 15 month old son. Suffering from miserable sleepless nights. Toddler had ear infection and got used to crazy nights of lots of crying. Now that he is feeling better it appears he has just gotten into a bad habit and wants to continue waking up throughout the night and cying, sometimes even screaming. It's been a while, but I feel like I remember my daughter doing somewhat of the same thing. He is down there crying right now as I am typing and I feel like my head is going to explode lol because I want to run to him, but I can't continue, something has to change. How long can I let him cry till I should give in? He has cried for maybe 20 min before until I finally caved, he is not giving up easy. Am I even making the right decision? HELP PLEASE!!!!!

I was always a fan of crying it out...to a point. Listen to the cry...is it a I know you'll eventually come so I'm going to cry until you do or is it an I think something is wrong and I'm going to scream my head off until you come. My oldest son was the master of choice #1 and my youngest was the master of choice #2. If there is really no reason for him to be crying (not hungry, wet, cold etc) then my advice would be go in soothe him-not picking him up if that's possible till he calms down. Don't know if you've tried or have this but I had a little aquarium toy attached to the side of my sons cribs that played music and put stars on the ceiling. always did the trick to calm them down.

Im against crying it out. I believe that he will somehow change his bad habit and be back to normal. 20minutes isjust waytoo much he needs you
