i am really embarrassed of my vagina because of large skin. the thought of me being a mom soon for the first time is really stressing me out(nervous). can i choose a female gynecologist to deliver my baby? and what should i do about my feelings? would my problem(vagina) get in the way of delivery?

I agree with the others. Not knowing where you live it's hard to give advice.

Let me also add that even though you think you are strange and have excess skin, you are probably quite normal and any Gyno that has been practicing for a while would have seen many different shapes and sizes. None of us are the same and we should embrace the uniqueness of our own bodies.

You should switch doctors now, typically the doctor you see throughout your pregnancy is the one to meet you at the hospital to deliver your baby. There is no way I would want some doctor I'd never net before who doesn't know anything about me or my pregnancy to deliver my baby. Also when you deliver a baby any modesty you had left about yourself goes right out the window.

obviously not. why else would i be so concerned about a male doctor looking at my vagina down there if he would have seen it before? im 19.

So you never once had a gyn appointment before getting pregnant? How OLD are you?

my doctor has not seen my vagina yet, my next appointment is when he's seeing my vagina for the first time since he mentioned something about him using a q-tip?

Hasn't he already SEEN you... since he's been managing your care so far? If you are uncomfortable with your doctor for any reason, NOW is the time to find a new one. Not at the moment of delivery. I agree with Jodi... this is a very strange question.

You know, if you are already seeing a male, I don't understand the problem. Believe me, no vagina is a pretty sight when you are pushing out a baby.......why would you suddenly have a problem with a male who has already seen your vagina during your checkups? This is a really strange question.

I would assume you can choose whoever you want to deliver your baby, provided they're taking new patients, but since I don't know where you live I have no idea whether that's actually true.

Also, what Jodi said.

If you really want to be sure that someone you've actually met before is supervising your delivery, I'd advise going with a midwife (assuming that's an option where you live). The (male) OB who oversaw my delivery was a total stranger, because the one I'd been seeing (also male) was on holiday in Greece when I went into labour :P

Can I ask what gynaecologist you were seeing BEFORE you were pregnant? You should have been seeing one anyway. And because I don't know where you live, I can't comment on who you can see to delivery your baby, but I can tell you now, you really won't CARE who sees your vagina when you give birth by the time you get to that point. My father ended up in the room (it wasn't planned that way) because I ended up not caring as long as the baby hurried up and got the heck out of there.
