can teenage mood swings last beyond a year?

My 13 year old daughter goes through mood swings like water. One minute she's happy and the next she's slapping a sibling, calling us vulgar names, cursing at us. Tonight I tried to give her a hug and her response was "F*ck off old lady" I would like to think this is a simple teenage mood swing but it's been going on for beyond a year and seems to be getting worse. I feel like I am at my wits end. I don't know what to do. It's really starting to affect my other children. Is there hope? help?

LOL....have you heard about PMS? That.

However, that does not mean the behaviour is okay. Do NOT allow her to use mood swings as an excuse for her behaviour, slapping, hitting, cursing is unacceptable. Either she needs some psychiatric support or some discipline, because none of this is normal at this extreme. What discipline have you implemented for her? And have you had her to see a doctor?
